Opportunity In Obstacles
It’s no doubt that 2020 has been less than ideal. As a filmmaker and entrepreneur, 2020 has been filled with frustration, anxiety, and an overwhelming feeling of being unfulfilled. Not being able to create content, and connect with friends or clients on set has been a huge struggle. However, if 2020 has taught me one thing so far, it’s that as a business owner, and creative I will always need to persevere and push forward.
Around early May, I was feeling frustrated by the fact that I was unable to create. I’ve always struggled with sitting around, waiting for things to pop up, so being quarantined for months really got to me. I was feeling burnt out and almost helpless. I knew I needed to create something that made me feel passionate again while creating something that would push others in my community to forge ahead. With the help of Dave Lisowski, we had put together a plan to create a short film that would motivate and excite those around us. Almost instantly, it was clear who needed to be the main subject of our film. Marco Dapkey.
Marco Dapkey owns Crossfit MFP, located in Haverford Township, Pennsylvania. Not only does Marco run an amazing gym, but he’s also a cancer survivor. Previously, I didn’t know much about Marco’s background, but I knew it was powerful. When Marco was at his weakest, he overcame and persevered - all while he was a student and athlete at Neshaminy High School.
Within this film, you’ll get a deeper look at who Marco is, and what shaped him into the person he is today. We’re honored to have gotten the opportunity to document such an amazing story and individual. I’ve gotten the chance to work with Marco for the last year and a half, and it’s been absolutely amazing. His positivity and dedication are contagious as you’ll learn from watching Opportunity In Obstacles.
